How To Use Gemini Live Two-Way Communication Feature

The Gemini Live feature is available within the Gemini’s Android app.

Google’s Gemini Live, a two-way voice chat feature for its AI chatbot, is now available to all Android users. This feature was initially available to Gemini Advanced users through the Google One AI Premium package, but the company is now making it available to all users.

Users can only access the basic version of the feature, though. The free tier does not include a choice of ten different voices. According to a report published earlier this month, Google is handing out the capability to all Android users.

iPhone users cannot use the Gemini Live feature because the Gemini app is still unavailable for iOS. However, Android users with a compatible smartphone with the Gemini app will now see a waveform icon with the sparkle icon in the bottom-right corner, beside the microphone and camera icon.

Users can access the Gemini Live feature by tapping on the waveform icon. Simply said, it is a two-way voice chat feature that allows both the user and the AI to respond with speech.

While the AI speaks fluently and with some voice modulation, it is not similar to the ChatGPT Advanced Voice Mode feature, which includes expressive voice and the ability to respond to user speech.

However, the feature remains handy when the user is on the road and would rather have a spoken chat to learn about the summary of an email or an interesting topic. Gemini Live’s full-screen interface feels similar to a phone call. A sound wave-like pattern will appear in the center of the screen, with hold and end buttons located at the bottom. If you want to use the functionality, here’s how you can.
