Microsoft Outlook Updated With AI-Powered Dynamic Themes

Microsoft Outlook was updated on Thursday with a new personalization feature that uses artificial intelligence (AI). The feature, known as ‘Themes by Copilot,’ is a dynamic theme generator. It will allow users to add customized themes that update automatically based on real-world conditions.

The feature is currently rolling out to individual accounts with a Copilot Pro subscription and business accounts with the Copilot add-on. Additionally, the company disclosed that it is introducing non-Copilot static themes to all users.

In a blog post, the company said that AI-powered dynamic themes for Outlook will soon be available. The tech giant redesigned the email client in September 2023, but this is the first time Outlook has received support for dynamic themes.

Users can use the AI chatbot to create personalized themes with Outlook’s Themes by Copilot feature. The dynamic themes driven by AI might be dependent on weather or location. There are 100 locations across the globe users can choose from or select their own location. As soon as Copilot has the user’s location, it will create a theme based on it.

These dynamic themes are updated automatically according to real-world conditions, just as the weather-based themes. For example, depending on the local weather, these themes may automatically switch between day and night or other weather conditions.

These AI themes will be accessible online and on all platforms, including Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android. Outlook will be given a background wallpaper for the desktop interface. The theme will be shown at the top of the app on the mobile interface. According to the company, both interfaces will also have thematic accent colors.

According to Microsoft, individual accounts with a Copilot Pro membership can access the new AI themes. This feature will also be available to business accounts that have the Copilot add-on enabled. Users on the email client’s free tier can access new non-Copilot static themes, but they won’t have access to Copilot-supported AI themes. Now, users have the option of deep green, red, or purple themes.
