CMF Phone 2 Rear Panel Teased by Nothing Ahead of Debut

The CMF Phone 2 — the anticipated successor to last year’s groundbreaking CMF Phone 1 handset — could be released shortly with some design updates. The Nothing subsidiary recently began teasing the release of its second-generation handset, and it has now displayed what seems to be the CMF Phone 2’s rear panel.

According to the most recent teaser, the device could feature a new matte finish. Previous sources indicate that the CMF Phone 2 will have a triple-back camera setup.

CMF Phone 2 Expected Design

In a post on X (previously Twitter) on Saturday, the smartphone manufacturer displayed a section of the rear panel of the rumored CMF Phone 2. A brief video shows the handset with plastic borders and a screw holding the revised rear panel in place. The movement of the handset reveals a glossy, rear panel with a matte finish.

The post doesn’t reveal the material of the rear panel, which could be made of plastic or aluminum. The current generation model is equipped with a polycarbonate rear panel (or vegan leather for the blue colourway). The lower left corner of the teaser also displays the CMF by Nothing logo, which changes color depending on the angle at which it is held.

According to a recent report, the CMF Phone 2 will include three back cameras, which might be an improvement above the Phone 1’s 50-megapixel primary and portrait sensors. The leaked image showed the full rear panel, with the left part of the phone looking similar to the one on the CMF teaser.

The Accessory Point system, which allows the use of accessories like a phone stand, card case, or lanyard, is another significant feature of the CMF Phone 2. According to the leak, these accessories will also be supported by the CMF Phone 2.
