Canada PM Hails Trump as ‘Transformative President’

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney praised US President Donald Trump during a meeting in the Oval Office on Tuesday, calling him “transformative” and highlighting gains in the US economy, NATO defence commitments, and regional stability. The comments come amid ongoing talks about a potential Nobel Peace Prize for Trump.

“Thank you very much, Mr President. If I may, you kindly hosted me and some of my colleagues a few months ago, and I said at the time, you are a transformative president. And since then, the transformation in the economy, unprecedented commitments of NATO partners to defence spending,” Carney told Trump.

Trump Credited with Regional Peace Efforts

Carney also commended Trump for contributing to peace in multiple regions, including India and Pakistan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, and efforts to counter Iran’s influence.

“Peace from India, Pakistan, through to Azerbaijan, Armenia, disabling Iran as a force of terror,” he said.

Trump has repeatedly suggested that he deserves the Nobel Peace Prize, citing his record in de-escalating international conflicts.

“Everyone says I should get the Nobel Peace Prize,” he said, referencing his efforts in the Middle East. Speaking to senior US military officials on Tuesday, he added: “They’ll give it to some guy that didn’t do a damn thing. That would be a big insult to our country.”

Trump Attributes India-Pakistan Ceasefire to Tariffs

Trump has claimed that his use of tariffs helped prevent a war between India and Pakistan. Speaking to reporters at the White House, he said, “If I didn’t have the power of tariffs, you would have at least four of the seven wars raging. I use tariffs to stop wars. If you look at India and Pakistan, they were ready to go at it… nuclear powers. I don’t want to say exactly what I said, but what I said was very effective. They stopped. And that was based on tariffs.”

He described tariffs as both an economic and strategic tool: “Tariffs are very important for the United States. We are a peacekeeper because of tariffs. Not only do we make hundreds of billions of dollars, but we’re a peacekeeper because of tariffs.”
