Chloe Malle Tipped as Next Vogue Editor-in-Chief

Chloe Malle has been officially named the new head of editorial content for American Vogue, taking over from legendary fashion leader Anna Wintour, according to reports from Puck. The 39-year-old editor will assume her role ahead of New York Fashion Week, which runs from September 11 to 16.

Anna Wintour Steps Down After 37 Years

Anna Wintour, 75, who has defined Vogue’s identity for nearly four decades, will step down as the U.S. editor-in-chief but remain Condé Nast’s global chief content officer and Vogue’s global editorial director.

Wintour’s era at Vogue cemented the magazine as the ultimate fashion authority, known for iconic covers, trend-defining shoots, and the Met Gala guest list.

Who Is Chloe Malle? From Social Editor to Vogue Leader

Chloe Malle, daughter of actress Candice Bergen and filmmaker Louis Malle, brings a strong editorial background to her new position.

A graduate of Brown University, Malle studied comparative literature and writing before starting her career at the New York Observer as a real estate reporter. She later contributed to The New York Times Style section before joining Vogue in 2011 as social editor.

At Vogue, Malle curated best-dressed lists, managed party coverage, and eventually hosted podcasts, growing into one of the magazine’s prominent editorial voices.

Chloe Malle on Joining Vogue

Recalling her first Vogue interview in 2011, Malle admitted she wore black tights and worn-out boots—a choice famously disliked by Wintour. “I was so seduced by the Vogue machine that I couldn’t resist,” she said in a past interview.

Final Selection Process Completed in August

Reports suggest that Chloe Malle emerged as a frontrunner in August, completing interviews with Condé Nast CEO Roger Lynch and Anna Wintour herself. Now, she officially steps into one of the most influential roles in fashion publishing.
