Trump Moves Space Command to Huntsville, Alabama

President Trump announced at the White House that the US Space Command headquarters will be moved from Colorado to Huntsville, Alabama, reversing President Biden’s 2023 decision to keep it in Colorado Springs.

“I am thrilled to report that the US Space Command headquarters will move to the beautiful locale of a place called Huntsville, Alabama, forever to be known from this point forward as Rocket City,” Trump said. He added that the move is important for defending the high frontier.

30,000 Jobs and Major Investments

The relocation is expected to create over 30,000 jobs in Alabama and bring in hundreds of millions in federal and private investments. Trump said this will boost Alabama’s defense and space industries.

Criticism of Biden Administration

Trump called the Biden administration’s 2023 decision to block the move “wrongful obstruction.” A 2022 GAO report had noted transparency issues in the site selection process.

Colorado Mail-In Voting a Factor

Trump suggested political reasons influenced the previous decision, pointing to Colorado’s mail-in voting system: “The problem I have with Colorado, one of the big problems, they do mail-in voting. So they have automatically crooked elections. And we can’t have that.”

He has also recently said he is considering banning mail-in voting, claiming it leads to widespread voter fraud.

$480 Million in Taxpayer Savings

Alabama Senator Tommy Tuberville said the move would save taxpayers roughly $480 million while strengthening the nation’s aerospace and defense capabilities.

The relocation is expected to have long-term economic and security benefits for Huntsville and the wider region.
