Ozzy Osbourne: Life, Parkinson’s Battle, and Multiple Surgeries Before His Death

Ozzy Osbourne, the iconic rockstar known as the ‘Prince of Darkness,’ has passed away at the age of 76. His family confirmed the news in a statement on Tuesday morning. Although a specific cause of death was not provided, it is widely known that Osbourne had been facing significant health challenges in recent years.

A Battle with Parkinson’s Disease

According to Page Six, Ozzy had been battling multiple health issues leading up to his death, including stage 2 Parkinson’s disease, which he publicly revealed in 2020. At the time, he expressed his resilience, stating, “I’m not dying from Parkinson’s. I’ve been working with it most of my life.

His wife, Sharon Osbourne, echoed his sentiments, saying, “It does affect certain nerves in your body, and it’s like you have a good day, a good day and then a really bad day.” She emphasized that the diagnosis was “not a death sentence by any stretch of the imagination.

Previous Health Challenges

Osbourne’s health struggles were compounded by a serious fall at home in 2019, which dislodged metal rods he had from a previous ATV accident in 2003. The fall left him in excruciating pain, leading to surgery where 15 screws were implanted in his spine. He referred to this period as “the longest, most painful, miserable” time of his life.

In 2022, he underwent another significant procedure to remove and realign pins in his neck and back. Sharon noted the seriousness of this surgery, stating, “It’s really going to determine the rest of his life.”

Retirement and Final Appearances

By 2023, Ozzy had officially retired from touring. However, just weeks before his passing, he made a notable final appearance to reunite with his bandmates for a farewell event.

His daughter, Kelly Osbourne, also made headlines recently by announcing her engagement to Slipknot’s Sid Wilson. She addressed rumors about her father’s health, asserting, “Yes, his mobility is completely different than it used to be, but he’s not dying.” She further dismissed claims of a suicide pact with Sharon as “bull**,” stating it was something her mom said “to get attention one time.”

A Legacy Remembered

Ozzy Osbourne leaves behind his wife Sharon and their three children—Kelly, Jack, and Aimee—as well as his children from previous relationships: Elliot, Jessica, and Louis. His legacy as a pioneering artist in rock music and a beloved figure will be deeply missed.
