Two tornadoes touched down Sunday morning along the Mississippi Coast, causing minor damage but no reported injuries, officials said.
The twisters were confirmed by 10:45 a.m. in Pascagoula and Gautier, both located east of Biloxi and less than an hour from Mobile, Alabama, according to Jackson County Emergency Manager Earl Etheridge.

Damage in Pascagoula and Gautier
In Pascagoula, at least one home sustained damage, while in Gautier, the popular Mexican restaurant Aztecas was affected as staff prepared for the Sunday lunch crowd.
The tornado tore apart part of the restaurant’s concrete patio and pushed cinder blocks onto parked cars. Fortunately, no workers inside were injured.
Aerial footage revealed roof damage and missing shingles from awnings in both cities.
Storm System Moves Through the Deep South
The tornadoes were part of a larger system of thunderstorms moving across the Deep South. By noon, the major storms had passed, and all weather warnings for the area had expired.
The National Weather Service in New Orleans warned that some strong storms and possible waterspouts east of the Mississippi River could occur through 1:30 p.m. In New Orleans, strong thunderstorms earlier on Sunday morning caused a brief power outage in the Mid-City area. Entergy has not confirmed whether the outage was weather-related.
Residents are advised to remain vigilant for sudden weather changes, especially in coastal areas prone to tornado activity.
