CU Boulder: Campus Reopens but Library Remains Closed

The University of Colorado Boulder briefly evacuated three major campus buildings Friday following an unconfirmed bomb threat. Students and staff were told to leave Norlin Library, the Ketchum Arts and Sciences building, and the Ramaley Biology building as police began their investigation.

University officials confirmed the evacuation was precautionary, lasting just over an hour.

Police Response and Safety Measures

CU Boulder Police said K-9 units were deployed to search the area and urged people to stay away during the evacuation. Officials also confirmed that Boulder Police and Boulder Fire-Rescue were not involved in the response.

“Evacuations have been lifted for three buildings on the campus of University of Colorado in Boulder after what police said was an investigation into ‘an unconfirmed bomb threat.’”

As of 1:15 p.m., authorities announced that the evacuation order had been lifted.

Norlin Library Remains Closed

While most activities have resumed, Norlin Library will remain closed for the rest of Friday. Campus police will escort students back into the building to retrieve their belongings.

“Police said classes are back on schedule at Ramaley and Ketchum buildings.”

Context of Recent Incidents

This latest threat comes just two days after a tragic incident at Evergreen High School in Jefferson County, where a student shot himself and two others. Authorities have not linked the two events but emphasized the importance of campus safety.

What’s Next for CU Boulder

The University of Colorado Boulder confirmed that classes will continue as scheduled in both the Ketchum Arts and Sciences building and the Ramaley Biology building.

The evacuation affected only three buildings and no other parts of campus were impacted.

Officials said: “The evacuations lasted for around one hour and no other buildings were impacted. This is a developing story and will be updated.”
