Chicago Mass Shooting: 3 Dead, 16 Injured Following Mello Buckzz Album Celebration

At least three people were killed and 16 others injured in what police are calling a pair of mass shootings in Chicago early Wednesday, June 2. The larger Chicago mass shooting occurred outside a nightclub and involved a drive-by attack in the 300 block of West Chicago Avenue.

What We Know About the Chicago Mass Shooting

According to police, the first incident happened around 3:17 a.m. in the 600 block of East 133rd Street, in Chicago’s Golden Gate neighborhood. A group of people was standing outside when unknown assailants opened fire, striking four individuals — three men and one woman.

Two of the male victims, aged 21 and 31, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and were transported to local hospitals in critical condition. A third man, 29, was shot in the shoulder and managed to drive himself to Roseland Community Hospital before being transferred to the University of Chicago Hospital, where he is listed in serious but stable condition.

The 29-year-old woman was shot in the arm and self-transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where she is in stable condition.

Chicago rapper Doo Wop was among those injured in this mass shooting. He was not fatally wounded and was seen being carried to an ambulance. Rapper Mello Buckzz, who hosted an album release party earlier in the night, was not injured.

Second Chicago Mass Shooting Leaves 4 Dead, 14 Wounded

Just hours earlier, around 11 p.m., another mass shooting took place in the 300 block of West Chicago Avenue, where shots were fired into a large crowd gathered near a nightclub.

Four people – two men aged 24 and 25, and two women were killed. In total, 18 people were shot, including 13 women, making this one of the deadliest mass shootings in Chicago this year.

No Arrests Yet in Either Mass Shooting

Chicago Police have not confirmed how many shooters may have been involved in either incident. No arrests have been made, and both shootings remain under active investigation.
