Rosie Roche, cousin to Prince William and Prince Harry, was tragically found dead at her family home at the age of 20 on July 14. Authorities discovered a firearm near her at the residence located in Norton, near Malmesbury, Wilts.
Circumstances Surrounding Her Death
Roche was found unresponsive by her mother and sister while she was packing to go away with friends. According to reports from The Sun, her death has been deemed “non-suspicious” by authorities, who do not suspect any “third-party involvement.”
An investigation has been opened at the coroner’s court in Wiltshire and Swindon, with proceedings adjourned until October 25.
Who Was Rosie Roche?
Rosie Roche was the granddaughter of Princess Diana’s uncle and was studying English Literature at Durham University. A spokesperson remarked that she would be “sorely missed.”

Family Tragedy Continues
The news of Roche’s death comes on the heels of another tragedy within the family. Thomas Kingston, husband of Harry and William’s cousin Lady Gabriella Kingston, died from a head injury in February 2024, with a firearm also found nearby. Senior coroner for Gloucestershire, Katy Skerrett, had ruled Kingston’s death a suicide.
As of now, neither Roche’s family nor a spokesperson for Prince William has commented on the situation.
