Trump Sounds Alarm on World War III as Ukraine War Escalates

US President Donald Trump has warned that the ongoing Russia–Ukraine conflict could move the world closer to a third world war if the fighting continues without progress toward peace. Speaking from the White House, Trump highlighted the intensifying scale of violence, noting that an estimated 25,000 people — mostly soldiers — were killed in the conflict last month alone.

Calling for an immediate end to hostilities, Trump said, “I’d like to see the killing stop… for the most part, 25,000 soldiers died last month. I would love to see it stop, and we’re working very hard.”

Trump Reiterates Dire Warning on Global Security

Emphasizing the risk of unchecked escalation, Trump added, “Things like this end up in third-world wars. And I said that the other day. I said, Everybody keeps playing games like this. We will end up in a third world war, and we don’t want to see that happen.”

While Trump has repeatedly claimed he could negotiate an end to the war within hours, he now faces the reality of both Moscow and Kyiv refusing to compromise, leaving him increasingly frustrated with the slow pace of diplomacy.

White House Says Trump Is ‘Extremely Frustrated’ With Both Sides

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed the President’s mounting dissatisfaction over the lack of progress. She described Trump as “extremely frustrated” with both Russia and Ukraine for failing to make meaningful steps toward a truce.

Leavitt stated that Trump is “tired of meetings that lead nowhere” and is demanding concrete actions instead of prolonged discussions.

“The president is extremely frustrated with both sides of this war. He’s sick of meetings just for the sake of meeting. He doesn’t want any more talk. He wants action. He wants this war to come to an end,” she said.

US Continues Diplomatic Push Despite Stalled Negotiations

According to Leavitt, the Trump administration remains fully engaged in efforts to broker peace. Trump has spoken with European leaders, while Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and his delegation are in ongoing talks with both countries “literally as we speak.”

The United States has indicated it is willing to provide security guarantees to Ukraine as part of any final settlement. However, Trump expressed disappointment that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has not been more receptive to the American peace proposal, which Ukrainian officials previously rejected as too favorable to Russia.

Debate Over Donbas Intensifies

Trump’s comments came shortly after Zelensky suggested that Ukrainians might vote on whether to cede the Donbas region to Russia. The Kremlin continues to demand Ukrainian withdrawal from key eastern territories — including areas of Donetsk and Luhansk that Russia has not fully seized despite nearly four years of warfare.

Shift in US Military Support Model Under Trump

Meanwhile, the US has sharply reduced its direct military aid to Ukraine, transitioning to a model that allows NATO allies to purchase American weapons for Kyiv. The shift marks a significant change in Washington’s approach to supporting Ukraine’s defense while balancing broader geopolitical priorities.
