Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Actress Wendy Davis Dies at 60

Wendy Davis, a 60-year-old actress known for her appearance in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, died after being struck by a Cadillac while crossing a Midtown Manhattan street, according to police and media reports.

Davis — who performed under the stage name Wenne Alton Davis — was crossing Broadway near West 53rd Street just before 9 p.m. on Monday, December 8, when she was hit by an oncoming motorist.

Authorities said Davis suffered severe head and body trauma. She was transported to Mount Sinai West Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Driver Remained at the Scene; Investigation Ongoing

Police identified the driver as a 61-year-old man operating a black 2023 Cadillac XT6. He remained at the scene after the crash and was traveling westbound when he struck Davis, who was in the crosswalk. As of Wednesday, December 10, no charges had been filed.

The collision occurred only four blocks from Radio City Music Hall and the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree, in an area heavily trafficked by pedestrians and tourists.

Who Was Wendy Davis?

Davis, a resident of Forest Hills, Queens, held a small role as a police officer in Amazon Prime’s hit series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Her acting credits also include the 2011 Michael Fassbender drama Shame and the 2004 short film Ladies Room, according to IMDb.

Neighbors described her as warm, kind, and deeply engaged with the people around her. Her friend and neighbor Edward Reynoso, 61, shared emotional memories of one of their final interactions.

“I love you, I appreciate you,” Davis had told him, Reynoso recounted to the Daily News.

“It was so weird to me, because I felt like she was saying goodbye,” he added. “Now that this happened, it all seems so odd to me.”

Reynoso said the two grew close after Davis moved into the building five years ago with her cat, Roxie.

“We got close because we always used to run into each other in the hallway,” he told The US Sun. “She was very driven, compassionate, giving. I will miss her smile, laugh, and joie de vivre.”

Davis had been heading out to meet a friend for dinner and a movie shortly before the crash.

“She always texts me when she is about to leave or come home and I didn’t receive any text or anything and I found it weird,” Reynoso said. “I was worried. I was texting her and she didn’t respond. I’m numb to tell you the truth. I can’t believe it.”
