A Cinnabon employee at the Bay Park Square mall in Ashwaubenon, Wisconsin, has been terminated after a viral video showed her directing racist slurs and offensive gestures toward Somali customers. The video quickly spread across social media, prompting immediate response from the company.
Video Shows Worker Mocking Woman’s Hijab and Using Racial Slurs
According to the post shared on X, the confrontation began when a Somali couple attempted to place an order. The employee allegedly mocked the woman’s hijab, leading the couple to start recording.
The worker then called them the N-word, openly said she was racist, and continued making insulting remarks. She also flipped them off with both middle fingers while the couple told her she was “ruining her life” and would lose her job. The employee continued shouting insults until the clip ended.
Cinnabon Issues Statement, Confirms Immediate Termination
Cinnabon responded swiftly after the video went viral. Company spokesperson Sawyer Carlson confirmed the worker had been fired, stating:
“We are aware of the deeply troubling video involving a former employee at the independently owned and operated Cinnabon bakery in Ashwaubenon, Wisconsin. The individual seen in the video was immediately terminated by the franchise owner. Their actions and statements are completely unacceptable and in no way reflect the values of Cinnabon, our franchisees, or the welcoming environment we expect for every guest and team member. We take this situation seriously and remain committed to ensuring all guests are treated with dignity, respect, and kindness every time they visit one of our bakeries.”
The brand also released a public message on X:
“We’ve seen the disturbing video from the Cinnabon bakery in Ashwaubenon, WI, and we do not condone this behavior. The former employee was immediately terminated by the franchise owner. Their actions do not reflect our values or the welcoming experience every guest deserves.”
Incident Surfaces Amid Political Tension Over Somali Community
The video emerged shortly after recent comments by President Donald Trump regarding the Somali community and Minnesota Congresswoman Ilhan Omar, who is of Somali descent. During a recent White House event, Trump said:
“The Somalians should be out of here. They’ve destroyed our country and all they do is complain, complain, complain.”
He also referred to Omar and her supporters as “garbage.”
