California’s Monterey County Issues Evacuation Alert for Moss Landing Harbour

The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office in California issued an evacuation warning on Tuesday for all individuals living on boats in Moss Landing, a popular destination for surfers and tourists.

Tsunami Waves Expected

Officials have cautioned that tsunami waves are forecast to hit the Monterey County coast by 12:15 AM Pacific Time (3:15 AM Eastern Time). The warning comes as the area prepares for potentially hazardous conditions.

“We are recommending that these individuals seek other lodging arrangements for the duration of the tsunami advisory for California Coastal counties,” the Sheriff’s Office posted on X.

Coast Guard Alert and Precautions

Earlier in the evening, the United States Coast Guard advised that strong currents could endanger vessels and coastal structures. While widespread flooding is not anticipated, damage within harbors remains a possibility.

Residents and visitors in the affected areas are urged to stay informed and follow all safety directives as the situation develops. Stay safe and monitor local announcements for updates.
