1. Kansas City

Kansas City is located on the western edge of Missouri, along the border with Kansas. It’s famous for its BBQ, jazz history, and fountains. With gigantic shuttlecocks out front, the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art houses almost 40,000 works of art ranging from ancient to contemporary collections.

It is a lovely place to visit for a weekend getaway. So take the family to Schlitterbahn Waterpark for a day of fun in the sun, or go to Harrah’s in North Kansas City for a night of gaming. There are also a few natural reserves for those who enjoy being outside, such as Shawnee Mission Park and Wyandotte County Lake.

2. Wichita

Wichita, the state’s largest city, should not be disregarded! It’s a great place to spend a relaxing weekend with the whole family or just yourself. Exploration Place includes interactive science exhibits as well as Kansas in Miniature, an exhibition of animated models reflecting 1950s Kansas. With historic buildings and costumed guides, the historic Cowtown Museum recreates 19th-century life.

Explore the world-famous Wichita Botanica Gardens or the wild world of science at Exploration Place. The Sedgwick County Zoo has new animals, while the Ancient Cowtown Museum offers antiques. Overland Park is a city in Johnson County, Kansas, United States, and the state’s second-most populous city. It is the most populated suburb of Kansas City, Missouri, and one of four major cities in the Kansas City metropolitan area.

8. Hutchinson

Hutchinson is the largest city and county seat in Reno County, Kansas, United States, and is located on the Arkansas River. It has been home to salt mines since 1887, thus its nickname of “Salt City”, but locals call it “Hutch”. Hutchinson’s main draws are two out-of-this-world experiences. The first, Strataca, will take you under the city.
