The release date for the thinner and lighter mid-gen PS5 update has reportedly leaked online, along with information on the first bundle. According to Billbil-kun, a trustworthy tipster known for accurately releasing monthly PS Plus games ahead of schedule, the new PlayStation consoles with smaller form factors will go on sale November 10 in the United States before spreading to other areas; both disc and digital versions will be available.
On November 8, Sony would combine it with the recently released Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 for $559.99, the same price as the existing standard edition combo. While not expressly stated, the content should be the same, including a digital game ticket and a customized controller.
According to Billbil-kun’s report, the Spider-Man 2 bundle will only include the disc version of the PS5 slim ‘without dedicated design,’ which is most likely referring to the special edition red-and-black PS5 that appears to be consumed by Venom’s black symbiote.
However, it’s unclear if he means the removable disc drive or the full console side plate. Sony revealed the new PS5 Slim last week, which is said to be 30% smaller than the standard PlayStation 5, as well as 18 to 24% lighter depending on the model.
It will be released next month, with a glossy top half and a matte bottom split by a black streak. Just like the original launch, it will be available in two versions: Digital Edition and one equipped with a detachable Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive.
The drive also comes with a white plastic shroud that can be fitted on to protect it from dust and debris. Like the original, the PS5 slim disc edition is priced at $499.99. The PS5 Slim Digital Edition costs $449.99, up from $399, albeit the Blu-ray drive can be purchased separately and inserted.

The drive can be purchased separately for $79.99. In terms of processing power and graphics, all consoles remain unchanged, but the internal storage has been upgraded from an 825GB SSD to a 1TB SSD. It is worth noting that once Sony has sold its entire inventory of launch editions PS5s, this new slimmer variant will be the only one available to buy.
According to the report, multiple Japanese vendors, including the regional Amazon site, have opened pre-orders/ bookings for the PS5 Slim, with a November 10 release date. Sony has sold 40 million PS5 units globally as of July, with the company reportedly expected to surpass that figure with renewed console sales.
