Google Cloud Unveils Generative AI Tools for Retailers

Google launched new artificial intelligence (AI) search and agentic tools for retail businesses on Sunday. These announcements were made during the ongoing National Retail Federation (NRF) 2025 event.

The Mountain View-based tech giant debuted its Agentspace platform, which allows businesses to create personalized AI agents for a variety of automation tasks. Google Cloud also announced updates to its Vertex AI platform’s Search for Commerce tool. The Search tool provides Google-like search functionality that can be added to any website.

According to the search giant, the rapid advancement of AI can help organizations handle bottlenecks such as supply chain difficulties and rising costs in managing a wide range of enterprise applications. To offer a solution, the company introduced its Agentspace platform and enhancements to the Vertex AI Search for Commerce tool.

Google Agentspace is an enterprise platform that lets businesses create AI agents. AI agents are specialized software systems that use artificial intelligence to perform actions and tasks autonomously, using skills such as thinking, planning, and memory.

Enterprises can create personalized AI agents to enhance the customer experience. According to the IT giant, AI agents built with Agentspace may provide product recommendations, answer questions, and guide buyers through the buying experience.

Agentspace can also be utilized to develop AI agents for internal purposes. Currently, the platform enables the construction of agents for inventory management, customer service, and integration with third-party services such as Slack, GitHub, Drive, Outlook, and more.

The tool now supports complex AI models, which may be utilized to improve product discovery on a platform. Additionally, its Connected Stores tool may connect end users’ devices to in-store systems, enhancing the omnichannel experience. The technology can be used to browse a physical store’s catalog, make payments at the checkout, and discover more about in-stock items.

Because these are enterprise-focused solutions, Google does not reveal their prices. Businesses can contact Google Cloud to discuss their enterprise requirements and get a quote.
