Threads Rolls Out New Feature To Save Drafts And More

Threads has released two new features for its Android and iOS users. The Meta-owned social media platform will now allow users to save post drafts for subsequent editing or posting. Furthermore, the app will enable users to take images without being redirected to the usual camera app.

Both improvements were rolled out on March 7 and should be available to all users within the next several days. Notably, Threads has recently introduced a new feature that allows users to favourite their favourite topics.

Threads’ official handle confirmed the additions, as did Instagram Head Adam Mosseri in a post. He stated, “We’ve been testing the ability to save a draft and take photos within the Threads app, and we’re finally rolling both out to everyone. “I hope these make it easier to share your ideas on the fly.” The testing period lasted somewhat more than two weeks, based on Mosseri’s initial introduction of the functionality.

Saving post drafts is a useful feature that allows users to type text, create a poll, attach pictures, videos, audio messages, or other materials, then store the draft and submit it later. This is handy when a user wishes to update a post, confirm information, or enter it ahead of time.

Threads does not support post-scheduling without the use of a third-party tool, therefore it can also be used as a workaround to schedule a post at a specific time. To use it, simply make a new post, add your content, swipe down or tap the Cancel icon, and then select Save draft.

Taking images within the Threads app is another new function that will be introduced with draft saving. Previously, users were redirected to the default camera app to take a picture, which was then shared with the social networking app.

Users can now grant Threads access to their cameras and capture images from within the application. Threads’ camera interface is less feature-rich than Instagram’s camera and only offers basic functionality, which may be a good incentive to stick with the default camera. However, additional functionality for the interface may be added soon.
