Kris Boyd Shot in Manhattan: Latest on His Condition

New York Jets cornerback Kris Boyd remains in critical but stable condition after being shot during a violent altercation in Midtown Manhattan early Sunday morning, according to police and law-enforcement sources cited by The New York Post.

Shooting Occurred Outside Popular Midtown Restaurant

The incident took place shortly after 2:00 a.m. on West 38th Street near Seventh Avenue, outside the upscale Sei Less restaurant and lounge. While police have not officially confirmed the victim’s identity, multiple sources said that Boyd was shot in the abdomen after an argument escalated.

Witnesses reported that the gunman fired two shots before fleeing the scene in a BMW X8 SUV. A silver Mercedes-Maybach was also seen leaving the area, but authorities have not confirmed whether it was linked to the incident. Officers said several witnesses were uncooperative, making the investigation more difficult.

    Boyd Hospitalized in Critical Condition

Boyd, 29, was rushed to Bellevue Hospital, where he is undergoing treatment.

Sources said he drifted in and out of consciousness before being transported from the scene. He remains listed in critical but stable condition as doctors continue to monitor him.

The Jets released a brief statement acknowledging the incident: “We are aware of the situation involving Kris Boyd and will have no further comment at this time.”

Family of Football Veterans Gather in New York

Boyd’s family, which has deep ties to the football world, has arrived in New York as the cornerback fights for his life. His brother, DeMarco Boyd, played linebacker for the Texas Longhorns. His cousins — Bobby Taylor, a former NFL Pro Bowler, and Curtis Brown, an All-Big 12 defensive back — also had notable football careers.

Sources close to the family told The Athletic they are “devastated but hopeful” as support pours in from NFL players, including Boyd’s former Minnesota Vikings teammates.

NFL Community Reacts as Police Continue Investigation

Boyd joined the New York Jets this season after previous stints with the Minnesota Vikings, Arizona Cardinals, and Houston Texans. Known for his physical style of play and leadership, he signed a $1.6 million contract earlier this year and has earned more than $8 million in his career, according to Spotrac.

The Jets are not scheduled to play on Sunday following their Thursday night loss to the New England Patriots. Team officials are reportedly in contact with Boyd’s family as the NYPD continues to search for the shooter. No arrests have been made as of Sunday night.
