Ben Lomond High Bomb Threat: Juvenile Arrested in Ogden

Ogden authorities have confirmed that a juvenile suspect has been detained in connection with last Thursday’s bomb threat at Ben Lomond High School. According to Mike McBride, spokesperson for Ogden Mayor Ben Nadolski, the boy was located in Washington state and taken into custody on Tuesday.

“This remains an active investigation, with the Ogden Police Investigations Bureau working closely with federal, state and local partners to ensure all appropriate charges are pursued,” McBride stated.

School Evacuated After Threat, No Explosives Found

The threat prompted a full evacuation of Ben Lomond High School, with students released early for safety. Capt. Tim Scott of Ogden Police explained that the threat was initially phoned into Weber County dispatchers.

Further information during the investigation led authorities to treat the situation as an active school threat, prompting a thorough sweep of the campus. Fortunately, no explosives or hazardous materials were found, and classes resumed the following day.

Investigation Expands Amid Rising School Safety Concerns

The arrest comes amid heightened vigilance following multiple school threats in Utah in recent weeks. While officials have not released the juvenile’s identity or details about the motive, Ogden Police emphasized that the investigation remains active.

“We are committed to ensuring the safety of our students and staff,” McBride said, highlighting coordination with federal partners.

In a separate incident, a bomb threat at American Fork High School led to another evacuation, though authorities later confirmed the threat was not credible. These events have raised growing concerns about school safety across the state.

Parents and community members continue to urge caution, and law enforcement encourages anyone with information on suspicious activity to come forward. The apprehension of the juvenile linked to Ben Lomond High is considered a significant step toward restoring confidence in school security measures.
