The iPhone 16 series, which will have at least four models iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max is expected to be released in late 2024, but there have already been numerous leaks about the future lineup.

According to reports, Apple will replace the iPhone 16 Pro’s iconic Dynamic Island feature with a hole-punch cutout on the display. Last year, the Dynamic Island debuted only on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. This year, Apple included the pill-shaped cutout on all four iPhone 15 models.

Apple is now testing a prototype version of the iPhone 16 Pro with a hole-punch cutout instead of the Dynamic Island, according to X tipster Majin Bu (@MajinBuOfficial). The final design selection may not be made until March of next year.

Furthermore, the tipster claims that the hole-punch display design would most certainly debut with the iPhone 17. On the microblogging platform, he also posted a redesign of the potential change.

Last year, Apple released the software-based Dynamic Island feature on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. The Face ID sensors and front-facing camera are hidden behind the Dynamic Island. It has two different cutouts on the display and works with iOS.

Users can use the Dynamic Island to manage notifications, view Live Activities, and listen to audio. Apple also added Dynamic Island to the standard iPhone 15 (Review) models as well.

The iPhone 16 series has been tipped several times in recent weeks. The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max may be driven by an A18 Pro Bionic chip manufactured on a 3nm process, while the standard iPhone 16 models will be powered by a toned-down version of the A17 Pro chip.

Furthermore, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max models that will be released in 2024 may have 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch display sizes, respectively. The Snapdragon X70 modem is expected to remain in the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus. Furthermore, the Pro versions are expected to include Wi-Fi 7 connectivity and a new ultra-wide lens on the back.
