As the messaging platform continues to work on giving an alternate method of logging in to an account, WhatsApp has begun testing a new feature that will allow users to add their email address to the app on iOS and Android phones.
Meanwhile, WhatsApp has been spotted developing the ability to share polls in channels. A feature tracker recently shared information about how voting in WhatsApp channels will work, before the feature’s launch on the beta testing channel.
Users can already log in to their WhatsApp accounts by entering their phone number and receiving a one-time password (OTP). The Meta-run messaging service allows users to enter and validate their email address as an alternate means of logging in to their account on WhatsApp beta for iOS 2.23.23.77 and WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.24.10 (via feature tracker WABetaInfo). Users are also advised that their email addresses will be kept private and will not be displayed to other users.
The ability to log in using an email address will be available as an alternative to receiving a login OTP via SMS, according to the feature tracker. When a user is traveling and does not have an international roaming mobile plan, this can be helpful. However, in order to access the service, users must first supply a phone number.
To add your email address to your WhatsApp account, go to the settings menu and select Account > Email Address. After entering your email address, you must verify it in order to confirm that it belongs to you. LoudFact was unable to confirm the presence of the email address field on the latest WhatsApp beta version from the Google Play store.

Meanwhile, WABetaInfo spotted a new feature that is expected to appear in future beta versions of the app but is presently under development. According to the feature tracker, WhatsApp is working on the ability to share a poll on channels, but the function will work slightly differently — votes from users will not be visible in order to safeguard user privacy.
At the moment, WhatsApp only allows you to take a photo and post it to your channel, or you may share an existing image from your smartphone. The ability to add a poll to a WhatsApp message is likely to emerge in a future beta version of the app, followed by a stable channel update once tested.
