JaQuon Stembridge Steps Down After Dating App Claim

JaQuon Stembridge, a rising figure in Georgia’s Republican Party, has resigned from his role after an online allegation accused him of attempting to meet an underage boy. The claim was first reported by The Georgia Record, which published screenshots and a video circulating on social media.

LoudFact could not independently verify the authenticity of these materials.

Stembridge, who recently made headlines as the youngest elected member of the State Executive Committee of the Georgia GOP, stepped down just months after being elected assistant secretary during the state convention in June.

Allegation Reported Online

According to The Georgia Record, Stembridge was confronted by an individual who accused him of trying to meet an underage boy, allegedly after interacting on a dating app.
Screenshots and a video of the confrontation spread quickly online, prompting immediate controversy within GOP circles.

Again, these claims remain unverified by LoudFact.

Stembridge’s resignation also comes amid his previously declared intention to challenge Georgia GOP Chairman Josh McKoon for party leadership, as noted by The Georgia Record.

Who Is JaQuon Stembridge?

At just 19 years old, JaQuon Stembridge is a political science major at the University of North Georgia. He made history as the youngest person ever elected to the Georgia GOP’s State Executive Committee.

During his election, Stembridge told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, “I was tired of going through a middleman in order to get young people the help they needed and to help get young people engaged in the Republican Party. I figured, you know what, instead of going through a middleman, how about I just step up and do it myself?”

Stembridge, who grew up in Greene County, announced his candidacy in March. He spent the end of his freshman year traveling from campus to GOP events across Georgia, promoting youth outreach and greater inclusion within the Republican Party.

His Perspective on GOP Representation

At the time of his election, Stembridge highlighted the significance of his win, stating: “That party of rich white men just overwhelmingly elected the 18-year-old Black guy named Ja’Quon. You’ve never seen that happen in the Republican Party. So I think that’s very significant. It shows that our party is moving in a new direction.”

Stembridge has said his political awakening began around five years ago. Born into what he described as a family of “generational Democrats,” he said he developed a different perspective during the COVID-19 pandemic while researching Republican viewpoints.

He told the AJC: “I realized that everything I learned about the Republican Party was far from the truth. And it was all a misconception that my family learned from generation to generation. It wasn’t just the party of rich white men that only cared about themselves, but it was truly the party of hardworking men and women that care about common sense issues.”

In 2023, he founded the Teen Republicans chapter in Georgia’s 10th District and later became chairman of the statewide Teen Republicans organization.

Background and Personal Interests

Before enrolling at the University of North Georgia, Stembridge attended Greene County High School. Outside politics, he is known to have an interest in college football, according to the AJC.
