Two people were shot by officers from U.S. Customs and Border Protection in Portland on Thursday afternoon, according to city officials.
The shooting occurred near the intersection of East Burnside Street and 141st Avenue. Portland City Council President Elana Pirtle-Guiney said the conditions of the two individuals were not immediately known, but added that, to her knowledge, both were still alive.
FBI Leads Investigation
Sources told ABC News that the Federal Bureau of Investigation is leading the investigation into the shooting.
In a statement, the FBI’s Portland office said it is investigating an agent-involved shooting that occurred around 2:15 p.m. near the 10000 block of Main Street, involving Customs and Border Protection agents.
“This remains an active and ongoing investigation led by the FBI,” the agency said, adding that updates would be shared as they become available.

Incident Follows Fatal ICE Shooting in Minneapolis
The Portland shooting came one day after an ICE agent fatally shot Renee Nicole Good, 37, during an enforcement operation in Minneapolis.
That ICE officer was later identified as Jonathan Ross. The Minneapolis incident sparked widespread protests and drew national attention to federal immigration enforcement tactics.
Videos From Minneapolis Fuel Public Anger
Footage circulating on social media from Wednesday’s Minneapolis shooting shows ICE agents approaching a maroon SUV stopped in the middle of a residential street, with bystanders lining the pavement and law enforcement vehicles nearby.
In the video, agents are seen instructing the woman to exit the vehicle. As the SUV begins to move, one agent points a firearm toward the driver and multiple shots are heard before the vehicle crashes into a parked car.
It remains unclear from the footage whether the agent was struck by the vehicle as it moved away.
Trump Defends ICE Officer Amid Crackdown
President Donald Trump defended the ICE officer involved in the Minneapolis shooting, claiming on Truth Social that the officer had been “viciously” run over and was recovering in hospital.
The Minneapolis incident occurred as hundreds of ICE agents were deployed to the Twin Cities as part of the White House’s latest immigration enforcement crackdown.
