WhatsApp is set to introduce its Events feature to personal chats soon. In May 2024, the Meta-owned messaging platform introduced this feature to WhatsApp Communities. According to reports, the company is currently testing the functionality in individual chats for Android and iOS users.
It may become available to global users in the upcoming days. Previously, the platform was developing a feature that would let users include music in their Status updates, similar to the feature on Instagram, another Meta-owned social media site.
WhatsApp is testing a feature allowing users to create and share events in individual chats, according to WABetaInfo. Currently, the feature is only available in group chats and communities. The feature is currently being tested by beta users on Android (2.25.3.6) and iOS (25.2.10.73).
Some beta testers have already received the event scheduling feature, which is gradually rolling out to more users, according to the reports. It may be released to normal users in the future months.
Previously, users had to create two-person groups as a workaround to schedule events, but with this update, they will be able to organize any necessary events directly from their personal chat.
The new feature allows WhatsApp users to schedule and manage events directly within private conversations. According to the report, it reduces the need for back-and-forth messaging by combining all necessary information into a single message.

WhatsApp users can utilize the events feature for both personal and professional purposes, such as scheduling casual meets, making doctor appointments, organizing business consultations, and setting payment reminders.
While creating an event, users may specify locations for in-person meetings or attach audio/video call links to facilitate virtual interactions. Recipients can also accept or decline invitations.
