YouTube Music Reportedly Soon Let Users Share ‘Personal Radio’

It has been claimed that YouTube Music is getting a new feature that will let users share their radio with other people. According to the report, the new feature will allow users to share their personal radio and let others add it to playlists.

Interestingly, the app has offered a personal radio option for a while now. It updates every day based on the songs that are currently being played. It’s unclear if the functionality will just be accessible in beta or if it will gradually roll out to all users.

Reddit user Rolan_Albarico posted, “Just got a public playlist that’s sharable and updates on real-time based on what I usually listen to,” and he initially noticed the functionality. Based on the songs that the user has indicated they favor or who they listen to the most, this public playlist is referred to as personal radio on the YouTube Music app.

These songs are selected by an algorithm that monitors users’ in-app activity and song-listening behavior to create a playlist of their most preferred songs. By selecting Profile > Your channel and swiping down, you can verify this. It is visible in the section where the user can see their top four stats.

A link to the user’s shareable personal radio was also shared. Its description says, “Made for sharing. Based on their recent music and always updating.” Interestingly, Google says on its support page that this playlist updates daily.

  • Tap on your profile icon on the top right.
  • Go to Settings.
  • Select Privacy and location.
  • Navigate to Enable public personal radio.

  • Verify your changes.
