Trump Gold Card Details: Prize, Rules, Eligibility

President Donald Trump has confirmed that his new Gold Card visa program will officially launch on Wednesday. The initiative is designed to attract foreigners with extraordinary abilities who wish to contribute to the United States economy and workforce.

Under the program, eligible individuals can secure U.S. residency by investing $1 million, while companies investing $2 million may sponsor an unspecified number of employees.

On Truth Social, Trump wrote: “THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT’S TRUMP GOLD CARD IS HERE TODAY! A direct path to Citizenship for all qualified and vetted people. SO EXCITING! Our Great American Companies can finally keep their invaluable Talent.”

Background of the Trump Gold Card Program

Trump signed an executive order in September establishing the Gold Card visa pathway. The program seeks to attract high-achieving foreign nationals who can make meaningful contributions to the country. The investment thresholds remain the same:

  • $1 million for individual applicants
  • $2 million for companies sponsoring employees

The initiative forms a key part of Trump’s broader immigration reform strategy, which combines stricter deportation policies with expanded legal avenues for top-earning immigrants.

Additional Options: Platinum Card and Corporate Gold Card

The program includes several expanded tiers:

Platinum Card

A $5 million Platinum Card option allows holders to stay up to 270 days per year in the United States without being taxed on income earned outside the country.

Trump Corporate Gold Card

Businesses can also apply for the Trump Corporate Gold Card, which allows companies to transfer access between employees for a fee. The card requires standard vetting by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and includes a small annual maintenance cost.

Economic Goals Behind the Initiative

Financial leader Howard Lutnick emphasized that the program aims to raise more than $100 billion, with funds intended to support upcoming tax cuts. President Trump said the policy is designed to attract “extraordinary people at the very top” who can help create new jobs for Americans, rather than compete for existing ones.

Eligibility Criteria for the Trump Gold Card

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be eligible for lawful permanent resident status
  • Be admissible to the United States
  • Have an available visa slot

As with any U.S. visa category, the Gold Card can be revoked if national security concerns or other risks arise.
