Reagan Airport Releases New Info After DC Shooting

A major ground stop was ordered at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) on Wednesday after two National Guard troops were shot just blocks from the White House. Both victims are reported to be in critical condition.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed the halt, citing immediate security concerns linked to the shooting. According to the advisory, the ground stop is expected to last about one hour, with an anticipated end time of 4 PM ET.

Flights Holding Above DCA as Delays Build

Data from FlightRadar24 showed multiple aircraft circling above the airport as the ground stop took effect. Arrivals were paused, and some departures experienced delays as authorities secured the surrounding areas in Washington, D.C.

Suspect in Custody With Non–Life-Threatening Injuries

The suspect involved in the shooting was taken into custody after being shot. A source told the that the suspect’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Heavy Security Presence Near the White House

The shooting occurred at 17th and H Streets NW, triggering a large emergency response. Police cordoned off the area as fire crews, police units, and federal agents secured the scene. Helicopters hovered overhead, and at least one aircraft landed on the National Mall.

Agents from the Secret Service and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) were seen responding, while National Guard personnel maintained a visible presence near the perimeter.

The situation remains under active investigation as federal agencies work to restore normal operations around the White House and at Reagan National Airport.
