Microsoft users, a mass deletion operation is currently underway! Microsoft has announced a mass deletion for Xbox One, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X customers beginning in January 2024. As a result, some users may lose access to some of their data.
Unfortunately, many Xbox users are unaware that most of their content will be removed at the start of next year. To promote its recent Xbox Game Pass titles, the company runs crazy ad campaigns. Microsoft recently completed the largest gaming transaction in history by acquiring Activision Blizzard.
Xbox owners have been notified via direct console messaging that their data may be erased as part of a new policy that went into effect on October 1, 2023. The Xbox Network is implementing a new policy on how captures are stored on Xbox servers.
Microsoft Changing Xbox Servers
After 90 days, all new and existing captures on the Xbox Network will be immediately deleted. As a result of this policy, the first removals are scheduled for January 2024. Users must back up all Xbox Live captures if they do not want to lose access to them indefinitely. Captures will no longer be stored indefinitely on Xbox Live servers.
“Due to a new policy starting on October 1st, 2023, existing and new captures on the Xbox Network will automatically be deleted after 90 days,” the notice added. “The first deletions will start in January 2024.”

Naturally, many Xbox users are dissatisfied. Microsoft has not stated why it is taking this action. However, as is often the case with such massive IT businesses, it could be a cost-cutting effort.
