Fireball Erupts From Manhole in Brooklyn as People Run for Safety

A dramatic video of a fireball shooting through a manhole in a Brooklyn neighborhood is going viral across social media platforms. The footage captures the moment of the explosion as flames burst from the street, sending a fireball into the air and pedestrians running for cover.

The incident occurred on Central Avenue in Bushwick, according to reports.

Viral Video Shows Car Passing Seconds Before Explosion

The video, first posted to the Citizen App, shows several cars driving along the road. One vehicle is seen crossing directly over the manhole just moments before it explodes, launching the fireball skyward.

As soon as the giant fireball rises, people scatter to get to safety while screaming.

Second Manhole Fire Reported Nearby Hours Later

Just two hours after the initial explosion, a second manhole fire occurred at Lewis Avenue and Pulaski Street, less than a mile from the first location. According to the FDNY, the explosion brought EMS personnel to the scene.

The second blast reportedly got dangerously close to local businesses and vehicles, increasing concerns among residents.

Similar Incidents: ‘Green Flames’ Seen in Texas Manhole Fire

Earlier this year, a similar manhole-related incident occurred in Texas, where eerie green flames rose from a manhole at a college campus — also captured on video.

“All the active fire that we know of that we have been able to identify, it is gone, it is out. We can’t rule out there may be some small areas with still some smoldering fire underground, but there is no evidence at all that there is any active fire,” said Deputy Chief Wilson during a press conference at the time.

One user on X (formerly Twitter) shared the video with the caption:

“Green/yellow flames are blowing out of the manhole covers from the sewers.”
