Brown University Shooting: FBI Releases Photos, Offers $50K Reward

The FBI has announced a reward of up to $50,000 for information that leads to the identification, arrest, and conviction of the individual responsible for the Brown University mass shooting, which left two students dead and nine others injured during an economics review session on December 13, 2025.

The FBI Boston Division, working alongside the Providence Police Department and Rhode Island State Police, is urging the public to assist in identifying the shooter, who remains at large and is considered armed and dangerous.

    • Male

In a statement on X, FBI Director Kash Patel said: “The FBI and Providence Police Department are releasing new images of a person of interest in the mass shooting at Brown University on December 13, 2025. The FBI is offering a reward of up to $50,000 for information leading to the identification, arrest, and conviction of the individual.”

Tip Line Open, Officers Canvassing for Evidence

Investigators are asking anyone with videos, photos, or firsthand information to submit them to the FBI’s Brown University Shooting tip line. Police officers have also been conducting door-to-door searches near campus, seeking home security and dashcam footage.

    Previously Detained Individual Cleared

Providence Mayor Brett Smiley confirmed that a previously detained person of interest, Benjamin Erickson, was questioned but ultimately released and cleared. Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Neronha stated there was “no basis” to hold him.

Earlier on Sunday, Providence Police released a brief dashcam clip showing another person of interest, though officials stopped short of naming anyone as a suspect.

    Campus Closed as Investigation Intensifies

Brown University has canceled all classes and exams, and grief counseling services are being made available to students and staff as the community copes with the aftermath of the attack.

Authorities are expected to give another update at 5 p.m. ET, as the manhunt for the shooter continues into its third day.
