Astronomer Addresses ‘Kiss Cam’ Scandal: Will Andy Byron and Kristin Cabot Be Fired?

Hours after the viral incident at a Coldplay concert involving Astronomer CEO Andy Byron and chief HR officer Kristin Cabot, the organization issued a statement addressing the controversy. The company confirmed that neither leader has been fired and announced that the Board of Directors has initiated a formal investigation.

“Astronomer is committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our founding. Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability. The Board of Directors has initiated a formal investigation into this matter, and we will have additional details to share very shortly,” the company said in a post on LinkedIn.

Clarification on Alyssa Stoddard

Astronomer further clarified that Alyssa Stoddard, who was speculated to be the woman seen alongside Byron and Cabot, was not present at the concert. “Alyssa Stoddard was not at the event, and no other employees were in the video. Andy Byron has not put out any statement; reports saying otherwise are all incorrect,” the statement confirmed.

This clarification comes after Astronomer informed TMZ that a social media statement falsely attributed to Byron had circulated. The viral message read: “You deserve better from me as a partner, as a father, and as a leader.” It continued with sentiments of regret and a plea for privacy, even referencing Coldplay’s lyrics: “Lights will guide you home, and ignite your bones, and I will try to fix you.

Incident at the Coldplay Concert

The scandal erupted when Byron and Cabot were spotted embracing on the ‘kiss cam’ during Coldplay’s concert at Gillette Stadium in Boston on July 17. As soon as the camera focused on them, the duo appeared anxious and turned away, prompting Coldplay’s lead singer Chris Martin to quip, “Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy.

Concertgoer Grace Springer posted the clip on social media, and internet sleuths quickly identified Byron, Cabot, and Stoddard, propelling the incident into global headlines.

Speculation and Ongoing Rumors

After the incident, internet investigators dug deeper into Byron and Cabot’s backgrounds, intensifying speculation about a possible affair. Byron is married to Megan Kerrigan Byron, while Cabot recently finalized her divorce. Adding to the rumors, Megan removed her last name from her Facebook account following the incident.

Notably, neither Byron nor Cabot has released an official statement regarding the controversy, and there is currently no confirmation of any affair, despite the speculation fueled by Chris Martin’s remarks.

As the investigation unfolds, Astronomer aims to address the situation while maintaining transparency and upholding its company values.
