Andy Byron Could Face Bezos-Level Costs in Coldplay ‘Kiss Cam’ Divorce

Andy Byron, the former CEO of data company Astronomer, could lose millions if the ‘kiss cam’ saga leads to a divorce from his wife, Megan Kerrigan. The executive was spotted cuddling with HR chief Kristin Cabot at a Coldplay concert in Boston on Wednesday, igniting rumors of infidelity and allegations of an affair.

Lack of Public Statements

Byron and Cabot have yet to issue a statement regarding the situation. Following the incident, Astronomer announced on Saturday that Byron had resigned from his position. Meanwhile, Megan Kerrigan has deleted her social media accounts and removed her surname from her profiles, hinting at potential turmoil.

Divorce Settlement Risks

An expert quoted by The New York Post suggested that Kerrigan could stand to gain millions if she chooses to file for divorce. The potential settlement amounts could mirror that of Jeff Bezos and his ex-wife, MacKenzie Scott, who famously settled for $38 billion.

According to Massachusetts laws, Megan, who shares two children with Byron, may claim half of his net worth, estimated between $20 million and $70 million, as reported by the New York Post. Matrimony and family lawyer Nancy Chemtob explained, “The state mandates that those married for over seven years split any assets they built together.”

The Emotional Toll

“It’s obviously a long-term relationship,” Chemtob added. If Byron’s wealth reaches $70 million, he would be required to pay a significant amount in the event of a divorce.

Chemtob also noted that Kristin Cabot may not face similar financial repercussions if her marriage to Privateer Rum owner Andrew Cabot ends in divorce, as it has reportedly been relatively short.

Los Angeles-based marital lawyer Jackie Combs told The Post, “I think the worst thing in this case is the embarrassment factor for the kids.” She elaborated, “The problem here is that now, the kids are embarrassed, the families are embarrassed, and there’s going to be a lot of expenses regarding therapy for the children and getting separate homes.”
