A weekend party in southeastern North Carolina turned tragic early Saturday when gunfire erupted, resulting in the deaths of two individuals and leaving 11 others injured, several of them critically, authorities confirmed.
The shooting occurred in a rural area outside Maxton, near the South Carolina border, prompting a large-scale response from Robeson County homicide investigators.
“There is no current threat to the community as this appears to have been an isolated incident,” the release said.

13 People Shot, Over 150 Flee Scene
According to Robeson County Sheriff Burnis Wilkins, 13 individuals were shot during the incident. More than 150 people fled the area before law enforcement arrived, making the investigation more challenging.
Sheriff Wilkins’ office said homicide detectives and other officers quickly reached the scene, which is located about 95 miles southwest of Raleigh.
“There is no current threat to the community as this appears to have been an isolated incident,” the sheriff’s office reiterated in a statement.
Authorities have urged anyone with information about what happened or who was present at the gathering to contact Robeson County investigators immediately.

As of Saturday evening, officials had not released the names of the victims or details about possible suspects. No arrests have been made so far.
The Robeson County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that multiple people remain in critical condition, and detectives are working to determine what led to the outbreak of violence.
