    Oakland Maine Explosion: Fire Crews Respond to Blast

    Multiple injuries were reported Thursday afternoon after an explosion ripped through a home on Lakeview Drive in Oakland, Maine, according to early first-responder alerts.

    The blast occurred around 3:40 p.m. near 20 Lakeview Drive, prompting a major emergency response. LifeFlight of Maine was dispatched to the scene, though officials have not yet confirmed how many people were injured or the severity of their conditions.

    Second Alarm Fire Reported After Explosion

    Shortly after the initial alert, emergency channels reported a second alarm fire at 10 Lakeview Drive, indicating the fire was triggered by the explosion.

    An emergency alert page wrote: “OAKLAND, ME (KENNEBEC COUNTY) | 2ND ALARM | 10 LAKEVIEW DRIVE | 2ND ALARM REQUESTED FOR A WORKING HOUSE FIRE STARTED FROM AN EXPLOSION. MEDEVAC REQUESTED FOR A BURN VICTIM WITH MULTIPLE INJURIES.”

    Fire crews from multiple departments are working to contain the fire and secure the area.

    Cause of Explosion Under Investigation

    Authorities have not released any details about what caused the explosion. Investigators are expected to examine the structure once the area is deemed safe.

    Oakland residents reported hearing a loud boom, followed by smoke rising from the neighborhood.
