A tour bus overturned Friday morning on Interstate 90 in Pembroke, Genesee County, New York, injuring more than 60 passengers. The crash prompted a full closure of the highway, causing massive traffic delays as police, fire crews, EMS, and medevac helicopters responded to assist the victims.

Highway Shutdown and Traffic Disruptions
Authorities reported that a lengthy stretch of I-90 was closed in both directions between Exits 48A (Pembroke) and 49 (Depew). The New York State Thruway Authority advised drivers to seek alternate routes until the situation is cleared.

Governor Kathy Hochul confirmed she was briefed on the “tragic tour bus accident” and said her office is coordinating with state and local responders. Meanwhile, New York State Attorney General Letitia James called the crash “heartbreaking” and expressed gratitude to first responders for their tireless efforts.

“There was glass all over the road and people’s stuff all over the road. Windows were all shattered,” said Powell Stephens of Medina, who drove by the crash, as reported by AP.
