A disturbing video captured the moment a Boeing 737’s wing part broke and flapped loose while a Delta Airlines flight was thousands of feet in the air, approaching its landing in Texas.
According to reports, Delta Air Lines Flight 1893 was traveling from Orlando International Airport to Austin-Bergstrom International Airport on Tuesday when passengers noticed a metal flap hanging from the wing, CNN reported.
Passengers Describe the Terrifying Experience
“We felt it was bad turbulence. The plane was shaking,” said Shanila Arif, the passenger who filmed the footage, according to the New York Post.
“The lady in front of us opened the window and told us it is broken. I opened the window and got scared,” she added.
Arif also expressed concern that if the wing flap detached completely, it could hit the plane’s tail and possibly cause a crash.

Delta Airlines Responds
Delta Airlines confirmed that “a portion of the left wing’s flap was observed to be out of place.”
“The aircraft has been taken out of service for maintenance. We apologize to our customers for their experience as nothing is more important than the safety of our people and customers,” the airline said in a statement.
Meanwhile, Delta Airlines has pledged full cooperation with the FAA investigation into the incident.
