Oklahoma City Flooding: Disturbing Footage Surfaces as Alerts Issued

Multiple videos from Oklahoma City show intense flooding as a National Weather Service (NWS) alert was issued on Saturday. A flood watch is currently in effect through Sunday afternoon for parts of Oklahoma and western North Texas, with expected rainfall between 1 to 2 inches and isolated areas receiving 4 inches or more.

Flooding Alert Issued

“Heavy rain could lead to flooding of low-lying areas, rivers/creeks, and roadways. Be prepared for possible flooding this weekend,” the NWS alert stated.

Warnings have been issued for several areas, including Oklahoma City, Edmond, Bethany, Yukon, and Mustang. Social media videos captured submerged roads and stranded vehicles, indicating significant impacts on transportation, especially along Interstate 35 amidst widespread power outages.

Thunderstorms Trigger Flood Warnings

On Saturday, thunderstorms brought heavy rainfall to central Oklahoma, prompting a Flash Flood Warning for Oklahoma County, southeastern Canadian County, and southeastern Logan County, effective until late Saturday.

Interstate 35 Under Threat

While no specific closures of I-35 have been reported, local media suggest that the highway is likely to be affected by the floods.
