According to reports, WhatsApp will reintroduce the feature after taking user input into account.

WhatsApp already has a disappearing messages feature that deletes delivered messages after a certain period of time. WhatsApp users can also send photos and videos that can only be viewed once before being deleted. However, the latter capability is presently only available to Android and iOS users.

The capability was originally available on both the desktop and Web versions of the application, but it was withdrawn due to security concerns. According to a report, the social media platform is returning the “View Once” photos and videos features for WhatsApp Web and WhatsApp desktop.

According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is introducing the view once feature for images and videos on the Web and desktop versions of the app. The button to set the “view once” option for the media is shown within the caption bar in the drawing editor on the WhatsApp for Windows platform in an image supplied in the report.

According to the report, the company is providing this “view once” option for photos and videos on Windows, macOS, and linked devices such as iPads. According to the report, the app is also extending this feature to the WhatsApp Web platform.

The feature is now being rolled out to eligible users. According to the report, it has already been rolled out to select users during the last few weeks. If you don’t see the option in any of your desktop or Web apps yet, it will most certainly appear soon. Check that the applications have been updated to the most recent versions.

According to the report, the Meta-owned platform is reinstating this feature on desktop and Web that was previously removed in response to public recommendations and demands. The first removal was due to security concerns. However, user feedback indicated that the “view once” option is a useful feature because it allows one to see a media file without using up the phone’s storage capacity.

WhatsApp has also launched a feature that prompts users to add their email address to their account. It will, however, not be visible to your WhatsApp contacts and will instead serve as a secondary identifier, following your phone number, to whom the app can send verification codes and the like.
