Trump Joins Salute to Service Event
Before the game, Trump spent his morning golfing in Florida before flying to Washington for the event. He was expected to sit with Commanders principal owner Josh Harris, who has been in talks with D.C. officials and the White House about plans for a new stadium at the historic RFK Stadium site in Washington, D.C.
Speaking to reporters before takeoff, Trump praised the patriotic pregame ceremony: “I just want to say, was that the greatest flyover ever? Nobody’s ever done a flyover like that,” he said.

The Commanders’ club president, Mark Clouse, released a statement earlier in the week, saying: “We are honored to welcome President Trump to the game as we celebrate those who have served and continue to serve our country. The entire Commanders organization is proud to participate in the NFL’s league-wide Salute to Service initiative, recognizing the dedication and sacrifice of our nation’s veterans, active-duty service members, and their families this Sunday.”
Trump’s attendance marked a historic moment — he became the first sitting U.S. president to attend an NFL regular-season game since Jimmy Carter in 1978.

Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown lightened the atmosphere when he and his teammates celebrated a touchdown by mimicking Trump’s signature dance moves. The playful moment drew laughter and applause from fans, offering a break from the tension.
