Midjourney, a popular artificial intelligence (AI) image generation tool, has launched a new function that allows users to edit created images. The new Web Editor feature adds inline editing capabilities to the AI tool, allowing users to make precise image changes.
The image editor includes several additional tools for making various modifications, including spot edits, zooming in, panning out, changing perspectives, and more. This feature also allows users to modify the initial prompt to regenerate the complete image or just a part of it.
In a post on X (previously known as Twitter), the company announced the release of the Web Editor tool, which will be integrated with Midjourney’s lightbox functionality and allow users to make specific adjustments to a picture rather than completely regenerating it. According to the AI company, the Web Editor combines several picture actions into a single interface.

Midjourney also provided a detailed explanation of the tool’s functioning on its help page. The editor tool will include an eraser for erasing areas that the user wishes to regenerate and a restore option for refining erased areas. It also features a scaling option that increases the canvas and serves as a zoom-out tool.
An interesting tool is Edit Prompt, which lets users change the original prompt for the image. Users will be able to alter the text, add or delete parameters, and adjust the way references are used in the image. This feature functions similarly to the ‘remix’ feature.

However, there are limits to what can and cannot be adjusted. For example, while users can remove and regenerate parts of an image, they cannot alter the subject or make granular adjustments without using the Edit Prompt tool.
