Apple to Refresh 24-Inch iMac: Ming-Chi Kuo

At its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2023 in June, Apple unveiled a number of M2-powered devices, including a new 15-inch MacBook Air, a Mac Studio, and a Mac Pro.

The company was previously said to be preparing to unveil a new iMac, a 13-inch MacBook Air, and a MacBook Pro this October, all powered by the M3 chip. However, prominent Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicts the 24-inch iMac revamp will not be released this year.

In a post on X (also known as Twitter), TF Securities analyst Kuo anticipated that a 24-inch iMac refresh would debut next year. Furthermore, the analyst predicted that a higher-end iMac with a 32-inch mini-LED display would be released in 2025.

Apple has not yet set the release date for its M3-powered Macs. Kuo’s prediction of an M3-powered iMac debuting in 2024 appears to be in line with earlier reports.

Back in July, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reported a delay in the company’s Mac lineup’s M3 upgrade, speculating that the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro and Mac Mini desktop improvements powered by the much-anticipated M3 CPU could be delayed until next year.

It was reported in March that the Cupertino, California-based tech giant was working on two new iMac models, codenamed J433 and J434. This report suggests iMac models, which have not been refreshed in more than two years since the company introduced the M1-powered 24-inch iMac in candy colors at its ‘Spring Loaded’ event in April 2021.

Gurman previously stated that the new iMac models were in the last stages of development and would not be available until the second half of 2023. Kuo also said last month that M3-powered MacBook models would not be introduced by the end of this year.

Apple presently sells a 24-inch iMac variant with an M1 processor in seven color options. The iMac is 11.5mm thin and has a 4.5K retina display with a peak brightness of 500 nits. The desktop includes six speakers as well as a 1080p web camera for video calls.
