Reports of a shooting at the Boca Town Center mall in Boca Raton, Florida, caused panic on Saturday, November 29, after shoppers said they heard gunshots and ran for safety. The mall is located at 6000 Glades Road.
Shoppers Describe Chaos on Social Media
Messages shared online captured the fear and confusion inside the mall.
“Shooting at the Boca Raton Mall where my niece works please pray,” one person wrote on Facebook.
Another user posted on X: “Gun shot at Boca raton Mall people are running in all directions.”
A video shared by another shopper showed people rushing outside. They wrote: “Therapy had me calm… the mall had me running. Grateful to be safe and praying everyone else is too.”
Police Clarify: No Shooting, Just an Altercation
Local media reported that both Boca Raton Police and Boca Raton Fire Rescue responded to the scene and began investigating immediately.
Authorities later confirmed to reporters that no shooting had occurred. Instead, there was an altercation involving at least one person who may have been injured.
Despite the confirmation, reports from inside the mall initially suggested gunfire, leading to widespread panic as shoppers scrambled for safety.
Investigation Ongoing
As of now, the Boca Raton Police Department has not issued a detailed public statement, but officials say there is no active threat at the Boca Town Center mall.
