Disney World Power Outage Shuts Down 40+ Rides

A powerful storm in Florida caused a major power outage at Disney World, forcing more than 40 rides and attractions to shut down across Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom.

The outage occurred during heavy rain and lightning, leaving several rides stalled mid-operation, according to local reports. Guests were safely evacuated, and no injuries were reported. The Disney World monorail system was also affected, stranding visitors who were waiting for transportation outside the parks.

Guests Evacuated After Attractions Stall

Witnesses described entire sections of the parks going dark during the outage. “We were halfway through the ride when everything stopped,” one guest shared on social media. “Cast members came to guide us out, and everyone stayed calm.”

Disney staff quickly moved to assist visitors and manage large crowds while teams worked to restore power.

Disney Confirms Safety Checks Before Reopening

Disney has not provided an official timeline for full restoration but confirmed that most rides will reopen after safety checks. Early reports suggest a system-wide power surge triggered the blackout, making it one of the largest outages in recent memory at the resort—especially during a busy holiday weekend.

What Visitors Should Know

  • All four Disney World parks were impacted by the outage.
  • More than 40 attractions and the monorail service were temporarily closed.
  • Guests are advised to check the My Disney Experience app for real-time updates on ride availability and transportation.

Disney said it will provide further updates as soon as operations return to normal.
