Roblox Accused of Prioritizing Profits Over Child Safety
According to the AG, Roblox endangers children due to weak safety measures.
“Roblox is overrun with harmful content and child predators because it prioritizes user growth, revenue, and profits over child safety. Every parent should be aware of the clear and present danger posed to their children by Roblox,” she added.
The lawsuit, filed in Livingston Parish, seeks restitution, civil penalties, and a court order requiring stronger safety safeguards.
Roblox’s Growing Popularity and Alleged Risks

Roblox, launched in 2006, is an interactive online gaming platform with over 82 million daily active users and more than 6.4 million user-created experiences. The platform encourages real-time interaction among players, including minors and adults.
The lawsuit references a July incident where a suspect allegedly used Roblox and voice-altering technology to lure minors. The AG claims Roblox lacks effective age verification, fails to restrict adult interactions with children, and hosts sexually explicit games and groups.

Controversy Over Vigilante Crackdown
The filing comes after Roblox cracked down on “vigilantes”—players who attempt to catch predators. One well-known vigilante, YouTuber Schlep, was banned and received a cease-and-desist letter.
Roblox defended its actions, stating that some vigilantes created “unsafe environments” by simulating inappropriate chats and steering users to other platforms, violating company rules.
Legal Allegations and Jury Demand
The Louisiana AG’s Office accuses Roblox of deceptive trade practices and negligence, creating an abusive and unsafe environment for children. The lawsuit demands a jury trial and immediate changes to Roblox’s safety protocols.
