According to a market analyst, Apple encountered technical issues with the display and mechanical components of the rumored foldable MacBook.

According to recent reports, Apple is developing a foldable version of its MacBook computer, which will likely be released as a more advanced version of the company’s laptop.

According to TF Securities International analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the Cupertino company may delay the release of its foldable MacBook by more than a year due to technical issues with the device’s components. The company was also believed to be working on a foldable iPad model for 2025, but the expert says there is currently no information available about the product.

In a post on X (previously known as Twitter), Kuo claims that his most recent market analysis suggests that Apple has canceled the 20.25-inch display design for the rumored foldable MacBook and that the product will be released with an 18.8-inch panel instead. In May, Kuo claimed that Apple was exploring both of these display sizes, resulting in 13-inch and 14-inch laptops when folded.

According to Kuo, the foldable MacBook model’s mass production has been delayed due to technical issues with the display and mechanical components. While it was earlier predicted to reach mass production in the first half of 2026, the analyst believes it could happen in late 2027 or 2028.

While Apple’s foldable MacBook is still likely to be released in the coming years, Kuo reports that there was no information about a previously rumored foldable iPad model during his most recent survey. Previous reports have stated that Apple is developing a foldable tablet, which might be released in 2025.

The analyst has not ruled out the possibility of a foldable iPad model, but the lack of visibility in the supply chain survey suggests that it is unlikely to be released in the near future. Kuo also believes that some market experts may have referred to the foldable MacBook as a folding iPad, leading to a misunderstanding between the two devices.
