The Samsung Galaxy Ring was announced at the Galaxy Unpacked event on Wednesday, January 17. It was followed by a brief teaser video that hinted to the design. It was referred to as a “health and wellness device.” However, the company did not provide any feature details or specify a launch date.

Several leaks concerning the Galaxy Ring have surfaced online in recent days. The smart ring’s likely dimensions were previously suggested, and it has now been spotted in one of the company’s software suites.

A Reddit user discovered the Samsung Galaxy Ring under the Good Lock application’s battery widgets section, with other Samsung devices. This indicates that the device is in development and will most likely be released shortly. It was earlier expected to come later this year alongside the rumoured Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6.

An earlier source suggested that the new Galaxy Ring would be “incredibly” lightweight. It is intended to be offered in a range of sizes up to size 13 (22.2mm). The smart ring may also come in three different colours. It is also expected to feature pogo pin charging.

Earlier this year, the company teased the Samsung Smart Ring, which featured a round, smooth ring with several sensors on the underneath. These are intended to help users with health and fitness tracking. The company that manufactures it promotes it as a “powerful and accessible health and wellness device.”

The Galaxy Ring, like most health and fitness trackers, is said to be capable of tracking, measuring, monitoring, and uploading health, fitness, and sleep data to suitable apps.

Older leaks stated that the device may include electrocardiogram (ECG), photoplethysmography (PPG), or atrial fibrillation (AFib) sensors, in addition to the more popular 24×7 heart rate, SpO2, and sleep trackers.
