“Keep Dreaming”: Khamenei Fires Back at Trump

Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, strongly dismissed US President Donald Trump’s assertion that American airstrikes had destroyed Iran’s nuclear facilities. Addressing the claims, Khamenei urged Trump to “keep dreaming”, calling the comments improper and a violation of Iran’s sovereignty.

In a statement on his official website, Khamenei said: “Trump says he is a dealmaker, but if a deal is accompanied by coercion and its outcome is predetermined, it is not a deal but rather an imposition and bullying.”

He added: “The US president proudly says they bombed and destroyed Iran’s nuclear industry. Very well, keep dreaming! What does it have to do with America whether Iran has nuclear facilities or not? These interventions are inappropriate, wrong and coercive.”

Trump Claims US “Obliterated” Iranian Nuclear Sites

Last week, Trump told Israel’s Knesset that the US had “obliterated” Iranian nuclear sites during joint strikes with Israel in June.

“So we dropped 14 bombs on Iran’s key nuclear facilities, totally as I said originally obliterating them and that’s been confirmed,” Trump said.

In a separate interview with Fox News, he called the operation “the most beautiful military operation”, claiming it ended Iran’s role as “the bully of the Middle East.”

Despite these claims, the actual extent of the damage to Iran’s nuclear program remains unclear.

Ceasefire Reached Between Iran and Israel

A ceasefire between Iran and Israel took effect on June 24, 2025, ending the Iran–Israel war. The agreement, mediated by the United States and Qatar, followed US strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, which officials said set back Tehran’s nuclear program.

Less than 48 hours later, Trump announced on social media that a “Complete and Total CEASEFIRE” had been achieved.
