According to a feature tracker, WhatsApp for Android may be developing a new feature that allows users to select default themes for chats and chat bubbles from a variety of design choices.

The rumored addition is believed to give users several design options via a new user interface (UI), potentially boosting the instant messaging platform’s customization capabilities.

According to WhatsApp feature tracker WABetaInfo, the messaging app is preparing this functionality for a future release. It was found in the WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.24.20.12. Following its launch, users may be able to select their preferred alternatives from a variety of design styles.

As shown in the screenshot shared by the publication, the colors of the chat bubbles and wallpapers will alter automatically to match the selected theme. According to the feature tracker, users may be able to select a wallpaper color independent of the chat bubble, allowing them to fine-tune their customization even further.

The option to choose among different themes is believed to be available in WhatsApp’s settings for Android. It is expected to be applied to all discussions by default, while users may have the option of manually overriding it for a specific chat.

Notably, the option to select a default theme was discovered by the feature tracker in WhatsApp Beta for Android 2.24.17.19.
